Shelby’s
Pilates Studio

Movement
with purpose.

Shelby Weigand
Owner, Certified Pilates Instructor,
Doctorate of Physical Therapy

Shelby first found Pilates in 2009 while working at a Pilates-based Physical Therapy clinic. She immediately loved not only how Pilates made her feel, but also how it made the patients’ feel.

After suffering from chronic back pain due to scoliosis, Shelby witnessed first hand how effective Pilates was in improving mobility and getting back to pain-free activity. She became inspired to share her experiences with others.

After finishing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013, Shelby went on to get her Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training. She finished her certification and became a Certified Pilates Instructor in 2017.

Since completing her certification, Shelby has transitioned out of the Physical Therapy clinic and has dedicated more of her time to Pilates practice.

A team aligned
with excellence.

Janie Zuber
Certified Pilates Mat Instructor

  • Janie discovered Pilates in 2018 when she tried a free introductory session at her local gym in New Jersey. As someone who had spent the first 40 years of her life afraid to move, Janie was fascinated by the Pilates approach to physical fitness, which not only challenged her body but also stimulated her mind.

She found that the structure of Pilates exercises suited her so well that she could finally enjoy moving her body and she became confident enough to show up to any and every new Pilates class she could find.

Janie has a special interest in translating her Pilates practice to achieving better form and stability when riding horses and doing ballet. After a few years of Pilates practice, she decided to pursue more formal Pilates training and started her Pilates Mat certification with Power Pilates in 2021.

She is currently certified as a Beginner Mat Teacher and is also continuing her education to earn comprehensive Pilates certification. Janie is a pediatrician, a military veteran, a pianist, and a once-city-girl-now-transplant-Texan who loves living out in the country and spends her free time training her five rescue dogs.

Shelby Shields
Pilates Instructor

  • Shelby first found Pilates in 2018 when a friend invited her to a group reformer class. Her youngest daughter had just turned one, and she was looking for a fitness routine that would inspire her. Pilates not only helped her get back in shape, it helped her overall health, general awareness, strength, and mobility. It was a perfect fit. She loves that Pilates is truly for EVERY body at ANY stage of life.

In 2022, Shelby completed the Polestar Pilates Mat and Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program. She is excited to continue her education to grow her own personal practice as well as her clients’. Helping clients find success and “AH-HA” moments is what she loves most about teaching.

When she is not at the studio, Shelby enjoys time with friends, tacos, a nice glass of wine, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Amanda Wiegel
Pilates Instructor

  • Amanda encountered Pilates for the first time at a crossroads in her life. A mother tends to neglect herself in favor of what do the children need? What do they want? How can more be fit into the day.... for everyone else? Rarely is the time taken to ask, what do I need? What do I want? What can I do for myself... for me?

It was only after seeing how sports impacted her children, who are now in their teens, that she decided to do something for herself. After researching, and reading again and again the touted benefits of Pilates, she made up her mind to give it a try. Just for a month. It was a very awkward start, getting comfortable with moving her body again, learning how to move in ways differently than ever before. She persevered and quickly fell in love with Pilates. She realized she never truly understood the mind-body connection as the mental aspects of Pilates tend to be understated.

For the first time since being a teen she found she had energy thoughout the day and a drive that had been lost. The peace and joy found in movement and the confidence she gained back after having three babies and so many years of office jobs and just... sitting still was life-changing. On her co-ed softball team, she was the only one who came through the season with no injuries! After realizing the benefits were real and being in complete amazement of her new appreciation of herself, she made the decision to become a certified Pilates Instructor through Shelby's Pilates Training Institute. Not only to deepen her own practice but to be able to share the benefits she's discovered with others. She's planning to sit for the national certification exam within the new few months.

Chrissy Carrier
Pilates Instructor

  • As a new Pilates instructor with a lifelong passion for movement, I’m thrilled to guide others toward better health and well-being. My journey began with dance and ballet at age three, which continued through my early adulthood. These years of movement laid a strong foundation for my understanding of the body and the importance of mindful exercise.

Having personally experienced the transformative power of Pilates in managing my own back pain caused by scoliosis, I wholeheartedly believe in its ability to improve both physical and mental health. I was thrilled to learn about Shelby’s Pilates Academy and quickly enrolled to begin my teacher training. It’s an honor to share this practice with others and help them achieve their own wellness goals.

When I’m not teaching, I’m busy with my husband and our two very active boys—whether it’s at the baseball fields, other sporting events or spending quality time with family and friends. I believe in the power of community and enjoy connecting with others who share my love for healthy living and staying active.
